DDA Board Update for November 2019

A Board of Directors Meeting was held on November 13, by conference call. The following is a summary of that meeting:

Membership: There were 8 new members since our last meeting – 6 Accredited, 1 Student, 1 Affiliate. They came from across Ontario – 1 from National Capital, and the rest from Toronto and GTA West. There were also 23 renewals. Overall, membership is up over the same period last year.

Treasurer’s Report: The budget process for 2020-21 has begun. Chapter Presidents and Committee Chairs will be receiving their year-to-date updates shortly. Calls have been scheduled for November 20 and 22 with all Chapter Presidents and Committee Chairs to discuss needs and wants for the coming year. Marketing Committee: Work has begun on the new DDA website. The committee has selected NightShift to complete the development. The committee is on schedule with the goal of having a new website operational by mid-January. Education: Committee Chair is working with the national office to update the information on the educational institutions listed on the DDA website. This will include course content, name changes and program changes. This must be an annual review. Work is being done to build our list of recognized institutions. Badges are to be issued on a yearly basis, similar to membership badges. A CEU committee is to be formed to assist in national CEU events.

Legislative Committee: Michelle Mackenzie, our government relations consultant, has provided board members with her report on strategy and tools for DDA’s government outreach efforts. Directors are currently reviewing the document.

Ambassador Committee: A letter campaign is about to go out to DDA’s recognized educational institutions, to remind them of our Ambassador Program, and the benefits of DDA membership.
